Disaster Relief

In times of crisis, firefighters work on the front lines: fighting fires, evacuating buildings, providing medical care, and doing whatever else it takes to protect the community.

They focus on helping others and often have little time to take care of themselves. That’s why, in 2019, the Fire Family Foundation launched its disaster relief program to provide immediate relief for the emergency needs of firefighters in US federally declared disaster areas.

Through this program, firefighters impacted by a natural or man-made disaster—a wildfire, earthquake, hurricane, flood, etc.—are eligible to receive a disaster relief kit.

Each kit includes:

  • A $250 Visa gift card
  • A fleece blanket
  • Hand sanitizer
  • A notebook & pen set
  • A reusable toiletry bag filled with the essentials: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a razor, shaving cream, and a comb

In partnership with local fire agencies on the ground, the Foundation deployed its first disaster relief kits in the summer of 2020 to help firefighters battling the record-setting wildfires in Northern California.

You can make all the difference to a firefighter on the front lines of a disaster: Sponsor a disaster relief kit for a firefighter in need today for $281!

Thank you to The Langham Huntington, Pasadena for the donation of the toiletry supplies and to HealthCare Partners for the donation of the hand sanitizer.
