Thank you!

Firefighters... They risk their lives every day to protect their community–to protect us, our lives and our property. They are men and women like you and me, yet, they serve... every day to ensure that we are safe. They go against the grain–they go in while we get out. Their commitment to helping others is second to none.

This year, California has experienced some of the most devastating and deadly firestorms in history. The massive Thomas Fire that ravaged Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, the Snell Fire in the Napa Valley, and the Creek Fire in Shadow Hills to name just a few. You are most likely very aware of them and the devastation they left behind, both to people, property and wildlife.

But did you know that several firefighters lost their homes and possessions to these fires while continuing to protect communities and properties from wind swept blazes. Did you know that firefighter Jason C. was 6 hours away fighting the Ferguson Fire when his own home near Redding was burnt to the ground?

Did you know that Dave S., a CA department of Forestry and Fire protection pilot watched from above as his home burned to the ground?

Thank you! These are just a couple of cases but there are many more firefighters who lost their homes to these devastating and deadly fires, all while they worked valiantly to protect ours. The deadly Carr Fire alone is responsible for 11 firefighters losing their homes.

You can help. Please show your support for firefighters who sacrifice so much for the safety of our communities, for your safety.

The Fire Family Foundation, the charitable hand of Firefighters First Credit Union, offers financial help to firefighters and their families in times of need due to disaster, an illness or a death. 100% of your contribution goes directly to the Fire Family.

I will leave you with a quote from one of the firefighters who lost his home in Redding, the home he built with his wife:

"I help people for a living. But not being able to help those closest to me is a devastating feeling."
