Educational Scholarships awarded to our outstanding Fire Family Students

On behalf of the Fire Family Foundation, I am pleased to be given the opportunity to announce the recipients of the 2018 Fire Family Foundation Annual Scholarship.

As the charitable hand of the Firefighters First Credit Union, the Fire Family Foundation awards $50,000 in scholarship grants each year to the children of active, fallen or retired firefighters nationwide. The Fire Family Foundation provides educational assistance by awarding $5,000 to each grant recipient to help with costs directly associated with attaining a college degree.

This year, we received over 100 applications. Each application was reviewed in detail and scored on the basis of the candidate’s GPA, extracurricular activities, work/volunteer activities over the past 2 years and an essay. A very talented pool of young adults were subsequently interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Because of the high level of accomplishments of our exceptional candidates, it was a very difficult task to make our selections. Each student demonstrated exemplary excellence in academic studies, leadership, personal accomplishments and community involvement.

This year we had a tie and awarded an extra scholarship for a total of $55,000 awarded to 11 deserving recipients who exhibited great potential for future success. The 2018 Fire Family Foundation Annual Scholarship recipients are:
